Mirriam Webster reports that they are closely monitoring the new terms, “doomsurfing” and its companion, “doomscrolling”, presumably with the possibility of adding these words to their dictionary.

They define these terms as the tendency to continue to surf or scroll through bad news, even though that news is saddening, disheartening, or depressing.

This phenomenon seems to have begun with the Covid-19 virus, but that doesn’t necessarily have to be the focus. There is endless bad news in our day, and the ever-present internet, iPhone, and other like devices, all contribute to this ever-growing problem.

Lockdowns and curfews are also contributing to this disorder. Late night doomscrolling, combined with the social media websites that have an agenda to promote unrest and turmoil, have contributed to the rise of depression, anxiety, insomnia, and even suicide, to say nothing of divorce, family breakdowns, and social isolation issues.

It is interesting that today, the word, “doom” refers to a grim or calamitous fate but originally the word referred to judgment. When Lucifer fell from heaven, his doom was finalized. Hence, the final doom is the last judgment at the Great White Throne.

Fortunately, there is a way to prevent this disease (or addiction). Instead of constantly reading or listening to the bad news, we can turn to the good news. We can lay down our phone and pick up our Bible. Here we find the pronouncement of hope. Here we find the remedy to heal our families and ourselves. Here we discover truthful reality instead of the false rudiments of the world.

Believers in the Lord Jesus Christ also have the cure for insomnia which can lead to depression.

Ps 4:8 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.

Ps 127:2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

Pr 3:24 When thou liest down, thou shalt not be afraid: yea, thou shalt lie down, and thy sleep shall be sweet.

Securing eternal life in heaven is the only way to secure peace in your soul. We have  published two books that will encourage you in these days of doom. They are as follows:

Link to Eternal Salvation by Leo LaVinka:

Way of Life Literature posted this today. We thought it was excellent. Anyone or any church that stands for the Words of God and the doctrines taught in the “preserved” Bible, the King James Bible, are called “lunatics,” “crazy,” “religious nuts,” and many similar epithets. So, we are posting this as an encouragement to “Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.” (1 Corinthians 16:13) . We thank Dr. Cloud for his continued support for those on the front lines.

The individual, home, and church that seeks to take the Bible seriously in Christian living is widely criticized today, even in “Christian” circles. “They are too strict. They are too serious. They need to lighten up. We shouldn’t be fanatics.”

But how is it possible to obey the following Scriptures without being exceedingly “strict” in doctrine and living?

“… teaching them to observe ALL THINGS whatsoever I have commanded you” (Mt. 28:20). This is Christ’s description of a New Testament church. A church that doesn’t take “all things” seriously is not obeying Christ.

“Now I praise you, brethren, that ye remember me in ALL THINGS, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you” (1 Corinthians 11:2). This passage deals with hair length, head coverings, and the Lord’s Supper, which are widely considered to be “non-essentials,” yet Paul praised the church for remembering him in ALL things.

“Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a LITTLE LEAVEN leaveneth the whole lump?” (1 Corinthians 5:6).

“And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in ALL THINGS. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible” (1 Corinthians 9:25).

“Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do ALL to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31).

“Give NONE OFFENCE, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God” (1 Corinthians 10:32).

“Let ALL THINGS be done unto edifying” (1 Corinthians 14:26).

“Let ALL THINGS be done decently and in order” (1 Corinthians 14:40).

“For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye be obedient in ALL THINGS” (2 Corinthians 2:9).

“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, ALL THINGS are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17).

“… let us cleanse ourselves from ALL filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God” (2 Co. 7:1).

“But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in ALL THINGS, which is the head, even Christ” (Ephesians 4:15).

“Let NO corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers” (Ephesians 4:29).

“And have NO FELLOWSHIP with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them” (Ephesians 5:11).

“Do ALL THINGS without murmurings and disputings: That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world” (Philippians 2:14-15).

“Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man PERFECT in Christ Jesus” (Colossians 1:28).

“Children, obey your parents in ALL THINGS: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord” (Colossians 3:20).

“Servants, obey in ALL THINGS your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God: And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men” (Colossians 3:22-23).

“Prove ALL THINGS; hold fast that which is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:17).

Paul instructed Timothy, “that thou mightest charge some that they teach NO other doctrine” (1 Ti. 1:3). That is a most strict standard of holding to sound doctrine and separating from false doctrine.

“Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in ALL THINGS” (1 Timothy 3:11).

“That thou keep this commandment WITHOUT SPOT, unrebukeable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Ti. 6:14). A spot is a small thing. Everything will be judged at Christ’s judgment seat. God’s people are to have their eyes on His coming and on pleasing Him in all things, not pleasing themselves and living for this world. This epistle contains commandments about such things as the woman’s modest apparel and her role in ministry (1 Ti. 2:9-14), which are widely considered to be “non-essentials,” but Paul does not treat them as non-essentials.

ALL SCRIPTURE is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be PERFECT, thoroughly furnished unto all good works” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

“But watch thou in ALL THINGS, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make FULL PROOF of thy ministry” (2 Timothy 4:5).

“In ALL THINGS shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity” (Titus 2:7).

“Not purloining, but shewing ALL good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in ALL THINGS” (Titus 2:10).

“Pray for us: for we trust we have a good conscience, in ALL THINGS willing to live honestly” (Hebrews 13:18).

“Wherefore lay apart ALL filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls” (James 1:21).

“Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself UNSPOTTED from the world” (James 1:27).

“But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in ALL MANNER of conversation” (1 Peter. 1:15).

“Wherefore laying aside ALL malice, and ALL guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and ALL evil speakings” (1 Peter 2:1).

Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in ALL holy conversation and godliness” (2 Peter 3:11).

“Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, WITHOUT SPOT, and blameless” (2 Peter 3:14).”

A little girl dressed up as a princess and a little boy as Superman. Pumpkin faces aglow on the front porch and cobwebs streaming from the rafters. Neighborhood children ringing doorbells and giggling when the door is answered with a loud, “BOO!” Just a night of innocent fun, right?

Unfortunately, that is what many say about Halloween. However, ignoring the witchcraft, horror, necromancy and death associated with it does not make it harmless. The evil overtones speak loudly. So, why do we celebrate it at all? Why are we willing to give retailers more than 8 billion dollars per year to celebrate it? Why are we desensitizing our children to violence, horror, and death? We are certainly aware that it is a pagan holiday; there are no religious overtones at all unless it is the worship of Satan. All is witchcraft, evil spirits, ghosts and death. Most of us understand that the origin of Halloween is dark and demonic, involving ancient pagan ceremonies that ended even with human sacrifice.

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. Ephesians 5:11

If you would like to understand the full history behind this pagan holiday, and understand why CHRISTIANS SHOULD NOT PARTICIPATE in any aspect of it, we have published a wonderful, easy-to-read book that gives you all the information you need to shun this holiday completely and all that is associated with it. For example:

  1. Do you know why we wear costumes on Halloween? The answer is truly repulsive.
  2. What is the origin of the bonfire (bone-fire)?
  3. Why do we “Trick or Treat?” There is a shocking answer.
  4. Read about the Jack-O-Lantern and you will never carve a pumpkin again.
  5. How about black cats?
  6. What about witches? Unfortunately, a majority of teenagers believe in witchcraft.

You will learn all this and much, much more in the book, The Dark Side of Halloween, by David L. Brown, who has spent decades researching this pagan holiday. Most families have no idea about the diabolical overtones of Halloween and the influence it has on our young people. It is such a great little book to give this time of year and there is time to order before that dreadful night is here. Ordering information is below:

Recently we reviewed Matthew 7 in Bible study at our local Baptist church, Zion Hill Baptist Church in Cleveland, GA. Beginning in verse 7:13, one quickly notices that a choice is present between a “strait gate” and “way” plus a “wide” gate and “broad” way. Jesus is talking about Himself when He mentions the “strait” gate because the word “strait” comes from a Greek word, “stenos,” meaning a “narrow” gate. Jesus calls Himself the “door” in John 10:7-9 and in John 14:6 “the way.”

John 10:7-9 Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep. All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them. I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

The way to salvation is limited to a specific person, the second person of the Trinity, the Lord Jesus Christ.

The second choice, the “wide” gate and “broad” way mentioned by Jesus in Matthew 7:13-14 is very interesting because “many there be which go in thereat,”(v. 13) where as “few there be that find the “strait gate” and “narrow” way. The Broad way is “spacious” from the Greek underlying word which carries the sense of “empty” from the root word.

Many in these last days are finding their lives empty; their souls are unfulfilled, and they are searching for answers when the answer can only come from finding the narrow way and entering through the strait gate.

Here are two books in our bookstore that may help someone find answers to life:

The definition of a perfectionist is a person who refuses to accept any standard short of perfection. As with any personality trait, there are degrees of perfection, some even approaching the neurotic or compulsive. But while a perfectionist is able to perform well in some areas, such as getting good grades in school or performing well on the job, other areas may suffer, especially personal relationships.

A perfectionist is, by nature, critical of others and themselves. There is no room for mistakes. Everything must be done in a certain way and those who do not conform are dismissed. The end result is what is important, not who they trample on to get there. Because of these high standards, perfectionists are often stressed, overworked, and depressed.

Verses from the Bible to Help You Overcome

Matthew 11:28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Jesus does not want you burdened, stressed, and overworked. Do what you must and let Him give you rest.

Ephesians 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you. Tenderhearted and forgiving people do not expect perfection in others or in themselves.

1st Corinthians 6:20 For ye are bought with a price . . . You have been bought with the precious blood of Christ and adopted into the family of God. You no longer have to prove that you are worthy because Jesus has already validated your worth.

A Helpful Book to Read or Pass On

This book, written by a pastor’s wife, Christian counselor, and college administrator, details her personal experiences in counseling couples having marriage difficulties. It addresses a common flaw, mostly in women, that, when recognized and corrected, can result in successful interpersonal relationships. It is available in paperback and ebook here:

“Let None of His Words Fall To the Ground”

1 Samuel 3:19 And Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him, and did let none of his words fall to the ground.

It’s Monday morning, 9/7/20, and the news is filled with comments concerning: (1) Liberty University’s wayward president, Jerry Falwell, and his wife,(2) a Southern Baptist Pastor who is enabling the “Abortion and LGBT Lobby, (3) ”accounts of “Trans Pastors,” Feminists, and Leftists in leadership positions, (4) a NYC Catholic Church placing pictures of porn stars, Marxists revolutionaries, and others on their altar, (5) the ongoing wars around the World, but particularly the wars in the Middle East, (6) the Covid 19 pandemic, (7) scurrilous remarks about candidates for president, and on and on we could go.

These troubling remarks remind us of the nouthetic (warning) ministry of the OT prophets and NT apostles. We need to emulate Samuel and his determination to let none of God’s Words “fall to the ground” (1 Samuel 3:19). But America, which has been blessed by God, has allowed God’s Words not only to fall to the ground, but to be adulterated through dynamic equivalent translating that is so bad it is often very vulgar. As a result, doctrine has fallen “to the ground” because faith in the preserved, inspired Words of God has been trampled by liberal, leftist, progressive, communist teachers in our schools and universities. The attitude is whatever “I” say the Bible says, is what “I” believe.

Most of the world has committed this travesty. There is a famine for His Words (Amos 8:11). It is not because they are not available. Rather, it is because they are not believed or trusted, and therefore His true Words are not obeyed anymore. (Ne.2:15).

Repentance is needed so that God will “cast all (their) sins behind (His) back [Isaiah 42:17]. But, His warnings are going unheeded even though the signs of Jesus’ return are everywhere, JUST LIKE THE BIBLE SAYS! (Matthew 16:3) If you don’t believe that then perhaps you should read carefully this little book that we published in 2018 which is available in our bookstore.

Global Mask Craziness

Proverbs 29:22  An angry man stirreth up strife. The following is reprinted by permission from David Cloud, Way of Life Literature,

In Flint, Michigan, on May 1, at a Family Dollar store, a 43-year-old security guard, a family man, the father of six children, was shot dead after asking a customer to wear a mask (“Killed for Doing His Job,” The Sun, May 4, 2020).

In Staten Island, New York, on May 25, a mob of angry customers at a Shoprite grocery store cursed and berated a woman for not wearing a mask. One shamer removed his mask so he can yell louder (“Video shows mob berating woman,” Fox News, May 26, 2020).

In Gardena, California, on July 5, a security guard shot and killed a 50-year-old man at a supermarket because he wasn’t wearing a mask (“California security guard charged with murder,” Fox News, Jul. 9, 2020).

In Bayonne, France, in July 5, a 59-year-old bus driver, family man, father of three daughters, was beaten to death by a group of passengers who refused to comply with the mask rule (“French bus driver died,” Agence France-Presse, Jul. 11, 2020).

In Lansing, Michigan, on July 14, a man stabbed another man in a restaurant after being told he had to wear a mask. He fled the scene and was later shot to death by a policewoman after he approached her with a knife and would not put it down (“Suspect killed by Michigan deputy,” ABC News, Jul. 15, 2020).

In Minden, Ontario, on July 15, a man assaulted a grocery store employee after being told to wear a mask and was later shot to death after a confrontation with police in his home. One of the employees said later that they shouldn’t have to enforce government rules. “If we didn’t have to force him and tell him that he couldn’t come into the store, nothing would have happened, really. He would have got his groceries and went along with his day” (“OPP shoot man dead hours after mask dispute,”, Jul. 15, 2020).

In Lakeside, Colorado, on July 19, a woman shopping in a liquor store was cursed and attacked with a cart for not wearing a mask (“Mask Madness,” The Washington Times, Jul. 20, 2020).

In Albuquerque, New Mexico, on July 21, a man who was told that he had to wear a mask to have his automobile serviced ran over the shop owner’s son (“New Mexico deputies,” Associated Press, Aug. 24, 2020).

In Gainesville, Georgia, on about July 23, a woman shopping in a Walmart with her two young children was severely berated by another customer for not wearing masks. The mask shamer said, “I hope you all die” and walked off. Walmart policy does not require young children to wear masks (“Store Mask Bully,” Western Journal, July 29, 2020).

In San Diego, California, on July 23, a woman pepper sprayed a man who wasn’t wearing a mask. He and his wife were sitting outside alone, social distancing and eating a snack. The woman sprayed the entire container into the poor man’s face (“Man allegedly pepper-sprayed for not wearing facial covering,” ABC10 News San Diego, Jul. 24, 2020).

In Hackensack, New Jersey, on July 29, in a Staples store, a 54-year-old woman who had recently undergone a liver transplant and was walking with a cane, demanded that another customer wear a mask and was subsequently shoved to the floor and suffered a broken leg (“Woman Shoved to the Ground,” NBC4 New York, Jul. 31, 2020).

In Manhattan Beach, California on July 31, a woman berated a man for not wearing a mask (even though he was sitting outside and eating at the time), then threw hot coffee on him. The victim subsequently beat up the crazed woman’s husband (“California Couple Throws Coffee,” International Business Times, Aug. 1, 2020).

In Wisconsin, on July 31, the head of the Department of Natural Resources, instructed his employees that they must wear masks even while video conferencing from their homes (“Employees need masks,” The Kansas City Star, Aug. 10, 2020).

On August 10, a woman and her two children were removed from a Southwest Airlines flight because her three-year-old autistic son would not wear a mask. She had a note from the boy’s doctor about his special condition, but Southwest apparently does not allow medical exemptions (“Family removed,” USA Today, Aug. 11, 2020).

On August 19, a mother and her six children were removed from a JetBlue Airways flight after her two-year-old daughter kept pulling off her mask. The other passengers were loudly protesting the airline’s decision, saying, ‘That’s not fair; don’t do that to that mother,” to no avail. Another mother was kicked off the same flight with her young son for sticking up for the first mother (“Mom traveling with 6 kids kicked off,” ABC News, Aug. 21, 2020).

Former Navy Seal Robert O’Neill, one of the nation’s brave heroes who participated in the raid that killed mass murderer Osama Bin Laden, was banned from flying on Delta on August 20 after he tweeted a selfie of himself not wearing a mask on a Delta flight, calling masks “dumb.” Even though he was eating and drinking at the time and airline policy does not require wearing a mask for such an activity, he was perhaps targeted for his jocular attitude against masking.

Difficult Days

America and its people are in difficult times because of the pandemic, violence, blood on the streets of our cities, confusion about what is right or wrong, political mayhem, whoredoms, fornication, pornography, lockdowns, man-made philosophies and traditions, deceit, and much much more including many, many sins. (Colossians 2:8). There are answers, but most are not willing to hear or see because they are in rebellion (Exekiel 2:7). Most individuals are not aware that the Old Testament was written for our “learning,” for our “hope,” and for us to “learn” more about Jesus (1 Cor. 10:6, Romans 15:4, Luke 24:27). In the book of Ezekiel, God gives a very appropriate allegory that related to the current situation and atmosphere of those days. There were two women, Aholah and Aholibah, sisters, who committed grievous sins (Ezekiel 23:1-49). Their sins can be likened to the sins of America in these last of the last days. Aholibah is Jerusalem in the days of the prophets, that sinned worse than her sister, Samaria, (see v.11). These two sisters represent Judah, the Southern tribes of Israel, and Samaria, the Northern tribes. Eventually, God’s judgment fell and the regions were taken into captivity. If you will, let’s call Aholibah, Washington DC, and Samaria, California. Whatever happens in California eventually influences the rest of America. One can relate the sins of Hollywood and Silicon valley’s godlessness to rejection of the one and only living God; that is, rebellion against Him. It is for our learning. If America continues to rebell, one can be certain that judgment will fall. As a matter of fact, it has already begun and can be expected to become worse. However, if the nation would repent of its sins and return to the “way of the Lord,” then a most gracious and merciful God would forgive our sins and heal our land. Maybe it’s time before it’s too late?

In our bookstore there are some excellent books concerning  hurting and healing, the true doctrines of the Bible, and about the right Bible, the history of America and the world from a Christian perspective, the last days,  some in Spanish, and many, many more.

Learning to Lead, Converting the Heart by Dr. Lance Ketchum

ONE OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT BOOKS WRITTEN IN THE LAST DECADE OR MORE:“The pursuit of relevancy by New Evangelicals has caused their continuing and gradual compromise of truth. Because of this dialog, most of the participants began to try to find the most reducible form of the Gospel to which they could agree to have a degree of unity. This Soteriological Reductionism came forth in three main streams within Evangelicalism and Fundamentalism by the 1950’s:

1. Easy Believism (New Evangelicalism)

2. Only Believism (Evangelicalism)

3. Easy Prayerism (much of Fundamentalism; One, Two, Three, say it after me!) Paul’s message in Galatians 1:6-9 is clear: If the Gospel can be perverted in any way, evangelism is perverted as well as the necessary faith that brings genuine salvation and conversion. These three forms of Soteriological Reductionism have filled evangelical local churches with people masquerading as “born again” Christians when in reality, most of them are nothing more than “whited sepulchers.” This reality exists because all three forms of Reductionism are perversions in varying degrees of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Easy Believism (New Evangelicalism) Easy Believism was the most extreme form of Reductionism within Evangelicalism emerging out this era. The common denominator within Easy Believism was that Jesus was the Son of God incarnate and that He died for the sins of mankind. If a person believed these basic truths about Jesus, regardless of any false beliefs to which he might hold, he could still claim to be “born again.” It most cases, few, if any, of the objective and definitive facts of the Gospel were required to be taught or understood before a salvation decision could be made. Iain Murray, in Revivals and Revivalism[1], says that the Presbyterian Evangelist Charles Finney (1792-1875) “believed that all that was needed for conversion was a resolution signified by standing, kneeling, or coming forward, and because the Holy Spirit always acts when a sinner acts, the public resolution could be treated as ‘identical with the miraculous inward change of sudden conversion’.” Easy Believism has four basic tenets: 1. A conversion experience is the only thing necessary for genuine salvation (whatever defines that experience). If a person can testify to a time he accepted/received Christ into his heart, that person has eternal security and should be given assurance of salvation. Therefore, a testimony of such an experience was sought to give assurance that salvation had taken place. Many types of experiences are accepted for this assurance. 2. There are no rules or standards expected within the Christian life after one was saved. Anyone saying that such things existed under grace was a legalist. 3. Once saved and having received the Holy Spirit, the Christian is at liberty to make decisions according to the Holy Spirit’s leading of his conscience. The Word of God is not the only way God directs believers to His will. Dogmatic applications of doctrine should be avoided and personal liberty should be allowed free expression. 4. Not every Christian will live a godly life, therefore the genuineness of his conversion should not be judged by outward circumstances or by external evidences of habitual carnality. Only Believism (Evangelicalism) Although Only Believism is less Reductionism than Easy Believism, it is equally perverting. Only Believism reduces the the believer’s response to Gospel to only believing. In other words, all responses to obey the Gospel (Romans 10:16) such as repentance, receiving, confessing, and calling upon the name of Jesus are all the same as, and are encapsulated in only believing. These various responses are not individual acts and are all merely aspects of believing that need not be expressed individually. All the other verbs describe aspects of a salvation decision, but these aspects cannot be reduced to only believing. In other words, repenting of sin (Luke 24:7) and “dead works” (Hebrews 6:1), understanding (Matthew 13:23), believing the objective facts of the Gospel of Jesus Christ (Acts 8:37; 16:31-32), publicly confessing one’s belief that Jesus is Jehovah (Romans 10:9; “LORD,” see Joel 2:32), calling on the name of Jesus to save (Romans 10:13), and receiving the indwelling of the Holy Spirit (John 1:12) are all aspects of a proper response to the Gospel in a genuine salvation decision and should be explained in the presentation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. True Evangelism involves both the explanation of the objective facts of the Gospel and the objective required responses to the Gospel in order for true, supernatural “conversion” to be created.”ABOUT THE AUTHOR AND THE BOOK: Dr. Lance Ketchum, Pastor of Shepherd’s Fold Baptist Church, founder of Disciple Maker Ministries, Executive Committee Chairman of the Midwestern Independent Baptist Pastor’s Fellowship, a preacher and teacher at universities, graduate schools, and conferences, an internationally known author, a father, a husband, and a grandfather has written one of the most important and insightful works for the last of the “latter times.” He addresses the proper Biblical understanding of repentance and faith, which has been corrupted by over-zealous, number-oriented door knockers. The tragedy and plague of false professions over the last half a century will be addressed by his exposition of critical terms. He explains that beginning in the middle of the 20th century, but particularly after 1970, the understanding of repentance was sullied by neo-evangelicals and the emerging church “leaders” and has led to great confusion. Dr. Ketchum calls for all evangelists, pastors, missionaries and teachers to drop the “soteriological reductionism” characterized by “Easy Believism,” “Only Believism,” and “Easy Prayerism” and return to Scriptural guidelines. His masterful presentation of 5 critical verbs for preparing the heart to receive the Gospel and to be “born again” will encourage soul-winners to avoid the pitfalls of false conversions so alarmingly present in the last days and avoid so many unredeemed sitting in church pews who are showing no fruit or evidence of a changed heart. Our churches are filled with individuals who think they are saved, but rather, they on their way to hell, because so-called soul-winners have falsely encouraged lost people to believe by simply repeating the “sinner’s prayer,” that “if he or she died today, they would be going to heaven” Why not learn where you, reader, may have gone astray in soul-winning. May God bless any diligent disciple of God’s Words to read, understand, and teach this work. “Study to show thyself approve unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15).
